Menard Katavare

Hello everyone!

My name is Menard Mkudzeishe Katavare. All the way from Zimbabwe, a landlocked country located on the southern part of African continent.

I study at Tomsk State University of Control Systems and Radioelectronics (TUSUR). A University located in Tomsk city, Siberian part of The Russian Federation. I am studying industrial electronics at bachelor's level. I chose to study at this university because it's one of the best and leading engineering universities in Russia. I like studying here because we have caring and highly qualified lecturers who work sedulously to inculcate knowledge and skills into us. The city and university offer a conducive environment to students characterized by well equipped library, cafeterias, gyms , comfortable accommodation and business incubator among other things .I like also that the University offers equal opportunities to all students to participate in academic activities not withstanding one's identity or nationality.

I started a postgraduate program at the TUSUR Faculty of Physics in late 2018 and I am rather new to my new university. But even now I understand with absolute certainty that it is a university of a high caliber. My professors are world-class researchers, and I have every opportunity to study and work on my thesis. It is also very important to me, and I am grateful to university staff for their understanding and extra attention to international students.
I want to specifically mention the good accommodation and other conditions created by the university.
I am certain that in this environment, I will have no trouble writing and defending my Candidate thesis.

I came to Russia to get an engineering education. I wanted to study at a good university, and that is why I came to TUSUR. It’s a very interesting and comfortable place to be. Both our professors and classmates are friendly and helpful. The course is well-organized, the program is great and allows the students to excel. The Russian language is still challenging for me, but I get help from my friends, teachers and staff of the Division of International Cooperation. I’m sure that in a little while, I’m going to get better. I’m here to study and I will do my best to succeed.

As an international student at TUSUR we face some serious problems, but because our university and teachers care for us during our studies, they try by all means to help us by creating spare time for consultation, and for that I'm delighted to be at TUSUR. And I would like also to thank our international office by giving us some extra lessons of the Russian language, and it shows that they always care for us and I would like to take this opportunity and say thank you.

First of all I would like to thank TUSUR that gives us the possibility and opportunity to try something different in our education and our experiences in Russia. We have a good time with all our teachers during our different lessons. I am grateful for this preparation year.

I chose to apply to TUSUR for a variety of reasons. I loved the campus when I visited, and I would like to say it was truly such an honor to be a TUSUR language class student. In my view, the special method used in the language class to explain the words by making a story is a powerful and a perfect teaching technique. The other thing is how much teachers care about the accent. Teachers were patient enough to correct our mistakes whenever we were speaking, and those tips were very useful for me and I am still using them. The classes were not boring at all! They were held with a sense of humor, helping me remember everything and in the end, improving myself.

I liked studying at TUSUR when I needed to learn Russian, it's helpful for French-speakers or English-speakers. It’s easy to make friends in Tomsk too, and it’s good that young people in the city can communicate with you in English.

TUSUR University is one of the best universities in Tomsk. Tomsk itself is great, it's small, it's friendly, and it's cheap.

On the other hand, learning Russian at the beginning was not easy, but with hard work, communication and helpfulness of my teachers and university staff, I succeeded.

Today I am a Bachelor student at the TUSUR Faculty of Computer Systems. Before that I studied Russian at the pre-university course. I am happy that at TUSUR I made friends from different countries. The teachers are very committed and are always dedicated to helping students.

At first, I was very anxious because the Russian language is very different from Vietnamese, but I got used to it quickly. At TUSUR I have learned a lot of useful information and studied an entirely new language.
